Buying Handmade

All of my pottery is made by hand, every piece is unique and may have it's own special quirks. If you are new to purchasing or owning handmade Pottery, please keep this is mind before making an order.  Please read listings and descriptions thoroughly, it can be difficult to convey the size of a piece through photos therefore it is extremely important for you to review the dimensions carefully. I do my very best to measure each piece accurately, and represent each piece accurately. Glaze & clay colors may appears slightly different in person and under different lighting. My photos are taken under bright natural light and are edited slightly to lighten the overall photos. Under darker light some glaze colors will appear darker - many of my colored glazes are like colored glass and look different as the light changes.  

Buying handmade may not be your cup of tea, and that's okay!

Custom Orders / Bulk Orders / Pre-Orders

I do not accept individual custom order requests. 

I may be able to accept bulk orders as pre-orders. This can include something like gifts for clients, wedding favours, employee gifts etc. The pieces need to be chosen from my existing designs or general scope of work, and some customization options are available such as glaze options and clay options. Generally there is a 3-5 week production period, but this depends on the items and quantities requested. For wedding favours, please provide as much notice as possible especially if customization is required. Mugs are excluded from this program.

Trades & Giveaways

I am not participating in giveaways or art trades at this time and I do not respond to these requests. In order to keep my prices as low as possible it’s important for me to have a clear boundary here. 

How Is It Made?

Each and every piece of pottery is made by hand in my home studio located in Edmonton, AB. I utilize both hand building and wheel throwing techniques to create my collection of work. I exclusively work with Stoneware clay, and everything is fired to Cone 6 in an electric kiln. 

Each batch of work (50-100 pieces) takes me approximately one to two months to make.

Care Instructions

To give your pieces their longest life treat them like art first and a dish second, hand-washing recommended. Microwave use not recommended.

Pieces decorated with Gold or Mother of Pearl should not be placed in the dishwasher and never used in the microwave.

Paint Palettes & Paint Accessories are hand wash recommended. For more detailed care instructions please review the listing for your specific item or read my blog post for care tips! 

SarahBeePottery cannot be held responsible for any damage or breakage in the future following safe delivery, handmade pottery can be fragile in nature and should be handled with care. Please note that I do not offer refunds or replacements for broken pottery.

Canada: Flat rate shipping of $15 Canadian wide or Free Shipping over $100 CAD. Shipping via Canada Post. Your order will be processed & shipped within 1-4 business days. United States: Flat rate shipping for $25 CAD or Free Shipping over $100 CAD.  Shipping via Canada Post. Your order will be processed & shipped within 1-4 business days. Australia: Shipping rates will be automatically calculated based on your location and weight of your order. Orders will be shipped via International Tracked Packet through Canada Post. New Zealand: Shipping rates will be automatically calculated based on your location and weight of your order. Orders will be shipped via International Tracked Packet through Canada Post. Please ensure you have chosen the correct shipping rate for your order, and only choose local pickup if you live in Edmonton, AB or have someone coming to pick up your order. You will be contacted if it appears that the incorrect shipping rate was chosen with an invoice for the shipping charges.

Local pickup is available for free in Edmonton, AB. At the checkout please choose local pickup as your shipping preference. Local pickup is no longer available at my home studio, it is now located at:

You will receive an email once your order is ready for pickup with instructions. Please do not attempt pickup before receiving this notification, your order will be available for pickup in approximately 1-3 business days. Please pick up your order promptly (within two weeks), you will receive a reminder after two weeks have passed. Orders that are not picked up will be considered abandoned, please reach out if local pickup is no longer possible for you and I will send you a quote for local delivery if possible or the shipping rate for your items. 

We encourage you to choose local pickup over shipping if you live in Edmonton, AB and are able to pickup your order. 

Packaging

Almost all shipped orders will come double boxed to protect the fragile ceramics inside. 

Please reuse or recycle anything you can. To recycle: remove the plastic shipping pouch or tape covering shipping label as well as any stickers and discard. Everything else can be recycled or composted. Recycle or repurpose the box, corrugated cardboard, cellulose wadding, kraft crinkle paper, and twine. Packing peanuts are water soluble and compostable. 

I will pack your order with the utmost care, however in the rare event something arrives damaged it must be reported to me by email at sarahbeepottery@gmail.com within 48 hours of confirmed delivery via Canada Post tracking. In this email please include your order number, and photos of the box and contents as it was received, as well as any relevant details. 

SarahBeePottery cannot be held responsible for any damage or breakage in the future after successful delivery, handmade pottery can be fragile in nature and should be handled with care.

Lost Packages

Please contact Canada Post if you notice anything unusual regarding the delivery of your order tracking. As SarahBeePottery will not have any additional information from what is available via tracking you must first contact the shipping carrier as they will be able to begin investigation. Please feel free to loop us in so that we can follow the progress as well and work together to solve the issue. 

Returns 

All orders are final sale, please review listings thoroughly before ordering. 

As an extremely small business, all of the profits are promptly reinvested into the company and used to pay for supplies such as clay and glaze, shipping materials, and the equipment vital to creating pottery (like my kiln!). Therefore I ask that you consider your purchase carefully and review listings thoroughly, as I do not offer returns or refunds of any kind.
